The Mississippi River reached near record levels during the spring flooding of 2011. Floodwaters at the Osceola river gauge reached 47.43 feet on Monday May 9th, not quite breaking the record of 47.48 feet. The Little River floodway on the western side of Mississippi County also saw near record levels during this time. Only a few areas outside the floodways experienced minor to moderate flooding. All areas located inside floodways experienced major flooding.
